Tree Removal – Cunningham Highway, Willowbank
Tree removal works
Cunningham Highway, Willowbank
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) would like to advise of upcoming tree removal works on the corner of the Cunningham Highway and Champions Way, Willowbank.
These works are being undertaken as the tree is a safety hazard to all road users.
Work activities
- The removal of one semi mature Eucalypt tree.
Timing
- Works are scheduled to commence in late October 2023 and is expected to take one night to complete, site and weather conditions permitting.
- Typical construction hours will be from 7pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday. Night works are required for road user safety, and to avoid what would otherwise be extensive queuing and disrupution to the road network.
Expected impacts
- Changed traffic conditions: Temporary traffic changes include road shoulder and lane closures, roadworks speed limit reductions and short-term traffic disruptions. Please allow extra time when planning your travel and follow the directions of roadside signage and traffic controllers.
- Temporary construction noise: Use of machinery and plant will be required for a short period of time. Neighbouring residents and businesses can expect some increased noise, dust and odour. Reversing beepers and flashing lights will be used for safety.
- Environment: A qualified arborist will be supervising the removal of the tree in a way that minimises the impact to the remaining vegetation. Fauna Spotters and catchers will be present on site thorouhgout the tree clearing to relocate wildlife.
Every effort will be made to minimise impacts on the local community and surrounds.
TMR appreciates your patience and cooperation while these important works are carried out.
