EVENT NOTIFICATION / STREET CLOSURE NOTICE: LORD MAYOR’S LIGHTING OF THE CHRISTMAS TREE
KING GEORGE SQUARE, FRIDAY 29 NOVEMBER 2024
A Brisbane tradition, the Lord Mayor’s Lighting of the Christmas Tree is scheduled for Friday 29 November in King George Square. The event will run from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
Adelaide Street between Edward Street and George Street will be closed during the event to ensure a safer environment for the families attending. Access for busses and emergency vehicles will remain, and if you need to exit a loading dock or car park, you may still do so. Pedestrian access to footpaths remains unchanged.

Closure times: Friday 29 November, approximately 4.00pm – 8.00pm
Closure Details:
- Adelaide Street, from Edward to George Streets closed
- Albert Street shared traffic area in Queen Street Mall closed
- Burnett Lane will be accessible via George Street
- Local access to exit private car parks and docks remains
- No changes will be made to bus services
- Speed for busses will be reduced from 40kph to 5kph
- Access remains for emergency vehicles & busses
Once the event is complete, Police will open access to all areas as soon as it is safe to do so.
