WHAT WORKS ARE COMING UP?
Brisbane City Council and Energex will be undertaking works to remove a redundant electrical service at the corner of Edward and Alice streets in the CBD.

Please note Energex will also be undertaking night works on Friday 27 October 2023 to remove the redundant service.
These works are required to be completed at night, when traffic volumes are lowest, to ensure the safety of road users and workers and to minimise traffic disruptions. Wherever possible, noisy works will be completed before 11pm.
WHAT DOES THIS WORK INCLUDE?
Works will include saw cutting the road, trenching and jack hammering to remove the redundant service.
WHERE ARE THE WORKS HAPPENING?
These works will occur on the corner of Edward and Alice streets in the CBD.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ME?
If you live in, or are travelling through, the area, you may experience:
- a full road closure of Edward Street from Margaret Street to Alice Street at night from 8pm to 5am
- a detour will be in place with traffic controllers onsite to assist road users around the area, the road will be reinstated at the end of each night’s work and open to traffic during the day
- footpath closure on the eastern side of Edward Street, with signage and traffic controllers to direct pedestrians around the work area as required
- temporary parking removal on Alice Street construction noise, vibration and some dust from machinery, equipment and trucks
- increased truck movements through the area to transport machinery and materials.
