Pavement Investigation Works – Cunningham Highway, Yamanto / Flinders View

Pavement Investigation Works
Cunningham Highway, Yamanto / Flinders View

Update: March 2024

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) advises that pavement repair and resurfacing works will take place in both directions on the Cunningham Highway between Ipswich Boonah Road, Yamanto and Ripley Road, Flinders View.

These works are being undertaken as part of TMR’s maintenance program to improve the road surface and enhance road safety for all road users.

While works are underway, detours will be required, please see details below.

Work activities

  • Removal and replacement of asphalt.
  • Line marking.

Timing

  • Works are scheduled to start early April 2024 and are expected to take approximately five weeks to complete, weather and construction conditions permitting.
  • Typical construction hours will be from 8pm to 5am, Sunday to Friday. Night works are required for road user safety and to avoid what would otherwise be extensive traffic queuing and disruption to the road network. While the majority of the works will be undertaken at night, some Saturday or other out of hours works may be required.
  • While works are underway, temporary road closures on the Cunningham Highway will be required intermittently throughout the project and detours will be in place. Please see further details below:
    • Access to the Ipswich Boonah Road westbound exit ramp from Cunningham Highway will be detoured as follows:
      • Westbound traffic on the Cunningham Highway will be detoured onto the eastbound lane until the median ends. Traffic will then be directed to return back onto the westbound lane to perform a U-turn at the U-turn facility.
      • From here traffic will head back eastbound on the Cunningham Highway and take the Ipswich Boonah Road exit ramp.
    • Access to the Ripley Road eastbound exit ramp from Cunningham Highway will be detoured as follows:
      • Traffic will continue eastbound on the Cunningham Highway then take the South Station Road exit ramp and turn onto Swanbank Road.
      • From here traffic will turn right onto the westbound Cunningham Highway entry ramp and continue westbound on the Cunningham Highway then take the westbound exit ramp to Ripley Road and head in the respective direction
      • Final line marking works to improve the reflectivity and longevity of the road line marking will be applied approximately six weeks after the completion of road resurfacing to allow for adequate curing.

Expected impacts

  • Temporary changed traffic conditions: Road shoulder and lane closures, temporary road closures and traffic detours, roadworks speed limit reductions and short-term traffic disruptions. Please allow extra time when planning your travel and follow the directions of roadside signage and traffic controllers.
  • Temporary construction noise: Nearby residents and businesses may experience a short term increase in noise, dust, and odour during the works. Reversing beepers and flashing lights will be used on vehicles for safety.

On completion, TMR officers will continue to review the site for up to three months. During this time TMR will assess the work undertaken for longevity and quality. In some cases, TMR may need to request further work at the location to rectify any defects.

Every effort will be made to minimise impacts on the local community and surrounds.

TMR appreciates your patience and cooperation while these important works are carried out.
