
Maintenance Works – Sandgate Road, Boondall
Sandgate Road, Boondall – Cabbage Tree Creek bridge inspections and maintenance works
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will be undertaking inspections and maintenance works on the Cabbage Tree Creek bridge on Sandgate Road at Boondall in May 2025.
These routine works are being performed to monitor and improve the structural integrity of the bridge.
Work activities
- Water quality monitoring.
- Visual inspections, including underwater inspections.
- Concrete sampling.
- Cleaning of concrete samples.
Timing
- Works are scheduled to take place between 6 May and 30 May 2025, conditions permitting.
- Typical working hours will be from 6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
- Dates and times will vary daily subject to the tide times.
- While majority of the works will be undertaken during the day, some Saturday or other out of hours works may be required.
Expected impacts
- Traffic changes will be in effect including temporary lane closures with traffic control and temporary speed reductions.
- Please allow extra time when planning your travel and follow the directions of roadside signage and traffic controllers.
- Temporary diversions to the shared path will be in place during works. Please follow traffic control in place.
- The land adjacent to Sandgate Road on the north bound approach to the bridge is needed for the site compound. Please avoid parking in this area for the safety of motorists and onsite work crew.
On completion, TMR officers will continue to review the site for up to three months. During this time TMR will assess the work undertaken for longevity and quality. In some cases, TMR may need to do further work at the location to rectify any defects.
