Maintenance Works – Metroad 5, Toowong & Bardon

Maintenance works

Metroad 5, Toowong / Bardon

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) would like to provide an update about the pavement resurfacing works in both directions on Frederick Street, Toowong as well as Rouen and Boundary Road’s, Bardon.

High friction surfacing treatment is to be applied to asphalt works that were completed in May 2023. In addition to the surfacing treatment, some additional asphalt rectification work and manhole raising is to occur, followed by the final line marking application.

These works are being undertaken as part of TMR’s road resurfacing program to improve the road surface and enhance road safety for all road users.

Temporary road closures at night are required from late October 2023. Detours will be in place during these closures. Further details are outlined below, please follow directions of roadside signage and traffic controllers.

Work activities

  • Application of high friction surface treatment – in both directions, between 15 and 93 Rouen Road as well as between 200 and 236 Boundary Road, Bardon for approximately 5 to 8 nights, weather and site conditions permitting.
  • Manhole and Asphalt rectification works southbound between 16 and 28 Rouen Road, Bardon for approximately 2 to 3 nights, weather and site conditions permitting.
  • Final line markingboth directions on Frederick Street, Toowong as well as Rouen Road and Boundary Road, Bardon progressively moving for approximately 10 nights, weather and site conditions permitting.

  • Works will commence late October 2023 and are expected to be completed by late November 2023, weather and site conditions permitting.
  • Typical construction hours will be from 8pm to 5am, Sunday to Friday. Night works are required for road user safety and to avoid what would otherwise be extensive traffic queuing and disruption to the road network. While the majority of the works will be undertaken at night, some Saturday or other out of hours works may be required.

Expected impacts

  • Changed traffic conditions: Temporary traffic changes include, road shoulder and lane closures, traffic detours, roadworks speed limit reductions and short-term traffic disruptions. Please allow extra time when planning your travel and follow the directions of roadside signage and traffic controllers.
  • Temporary construction noise: Machinery and plant will be in use and for a short time, nearby residents and businesses can expect some increased noise, dust and odour. Reversing beepers and flashing lights will be used for safety.

On completion, TMR officers will continue to review the site for up to three months. During this time TMR will assess the work undertaken for longevity and quality. In some cases, TMR may need to request further work at the location to rectify any defects. Every effort will be made to minimise impacts on the local community and surrounds.

TMR appreciates your patience and cooperation while these important works are carried out.

The event is finished.
