Warrego Highway, Mount Crosby Road, Coal Road and Junction Road, pavement sampling investigations – night works
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will be undertaking pavement sampling investigations on the Warrego Highway, Mount Crosby Road, Coal Road and Junction Road. These works are being undertaken to assess ground conditions for the Warrego Highway and Mount Crosby Road interchange project which is currently in the design phase.
Please note, works were scheduled to commence from Monday 30 October 2023, however, due to onsite issues, the works and changed traffic conditions will be as below, construction and weather conditions permitting.
Works will include:
- Pavement sampling including drilling.
- Detours as advised below.
Timing:
- Works will commence late October 2023 and be completed in early November 2023, construction and weather conditions permitting.
- Typical construction hours will be from 8pm to 5am, Monday to Saturday.
- Night works are required for road user safety, and to avoid what would otherwise be extensive traffic queuing and disruption to the road network.
- While majority of the works will be undertaken at night, some Saturday or out of hours works may be required.
Expected impacts:
- Nearby residents and businesses can expect to experience short term impacts including increased noise during the works.
- Reversing beepers and flashing lights will be used for safety.
- Traffic control will be in place to maintain local access and egress to properties.
- Please allow extra time when planning your travel and follow the directions of roadside signage and traffic controllers.
- Variable Messaging Signage (VMS) will be in place to guide traffic during these works.

- Warrego Highway eastbound single lane closure from 8pm to 5am
- Warrego Highway eastbound offramp closure with detour via River Road in place from 8pm to 5am
Tuesday 7 November 2023
- Warrego Highway westbound onramp closure with detour via River Road in place from 8pm to 1am
- Mount Crosby Road, Karalee single lane closure from 8pm to 5am
Wednesday 8 November 2023
- Warrego Highway eastbound onramp closure with detour via Holdsworth Road in place from 8pm to 5am
- Coal Road, Karalee single lane closure at Mount Crosby Road intersection from 8pm to 5am
Thursday 9 November 2023
- Coal Road, Karalee single lane closure from 8pm to 5am
- Junction Road, Karalee single lane closure at Rae Road intersection from 8pm to 5am
Monday 13 November to Tuesday 14 November 2023
- Mount Crosby Road Bridge closure with detour via River Road in place from 8pm to 5am
Detours will be in place, construction and weather conditions permitting. Every effort will be made to minimise impacts on the local community and surrounds.
