Intersection Upgrade – Finucane Road & Dawson Road, Alexandra Hills
Finucane Road and Dawson Road intersection – safety upgrade
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) would like to advise that works to improve safety at the Finucane Road and Dawson Road intersection, Alexandra Hills, will start in mid-2024.
The upgrade, funded by the Targeted Road Safety Program, will improve safety for all users.
Work activities:
- Removal of right turn movements to and from Dawson Road.
- Relocate bus stops on Dawson Road to McDonald Road (Routes 251, 255, 5138).
- Extension of existing right turn lane onto McDonald Road.
Timing:
- Works will commence in mid-2024 and are scheduled to be completed in late 2024 / early 2025, site and weather conditions permitting.
- Typical work hours will be 7pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday.
Expected impacts:
- Nearby residents and businesses can expect short term impacts including noise, dust, and vibration.
- Traffic changes including detours, road, lane and shoulder closures, speed reductions and short-term traffic disruption. Please allow extra time when planning your travel and follow the directions of roadside signage and traffic controllers.
- Temporary diversions to the pedestrian footpath may be in place during works. Please follow traffic control in place.
- Reversing beepers and flashing lights will be used for safety.
- Access to private properties and businesses will be maintained during the works.
