Centenary Bridge, Sinnamon Road Eastbound Access
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) would like to advise the temporary closure of eastbound access on Sinnamon Road between Yallambee Road and the Jindalee/Oxley off-ramp, including the Sinnamon Road northbound on-ramp in Jindalee for the removal guardrails and installation of traffic barriers and long-term roadworks signage.
The temporary closure will be undertaken for two weeks at night between 8pm and 5am starting from Sunday, 3 September, 2023 for road user and worker safety, and to avoid what would otherwise be extensive queuing and disruption to the road network. Access to business on Sinnamon Road will be maintained, with all traffic movement on Sinnamon Road to reopen at 5am after night works.
During the closure, motorists will be detoured south to the Mount Ommaney Interchange in Mount Ommaney via Dandenong Road. Emergency services will be allowed through the site, and cyclist and pedestrian access will be maintained on the existing active transport connections.
Work activities:
- guardrail removal
- installation of traffic barriers
- installation of long-term roadworks signage.
Timing:
- The on-ramp closure will be undertaken at night for road user and worker safety, and to avoid what would otherwise be extensive queuing and disruption to the road network.
- Night works will be from 8pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday, as required.
Expected impacts:
- Changed traffic conditions: Temporary traffic changes, including closure of eastbound access on Sinnamon Road between Yallambee Road and the Jindalee/Oxley northbound off-ramp and closure of Sinnamon Road northbound on-ramp. A northbound lane closure will also be in place on the Centenary Motorway. Detours, roadworks speed limit reductions and short-term traffic disruptions will be in place. Please allow extra time when planning your travel and follow the directions of roadside signage and traffic controllers.
- Pedestrians and bike riders: A section of the Centenary Bikeway on Sinnamon Road near the on-ramp will be under intermittent traffic control to ensure safe movement of pedestrians, bike riders and construction vehicles. Please follow directions from traffic controllers.
- Temporary construction noise: Heavy machinery will be in use and nearby residents and businesses may experience short-term impacts, including noise, flashing lights, dust and vibration from construction equipment and activities on-site.
Every effort will be made to minimise impacts on the local community and surrounds. TMR appreciates your patience and cooperation while these important works are carried out.
