Road Resurfacing Works – Abbotsford Road, Bowen Hills (between Folkestone Street and Edmondstone Road)

What works are coming up?

Brisbane City Council will be resurfacing the road at Abbotsford Road between Folkestone Street and Edmondstone Road in Bowen Hills.

When will this work take place?

Start: From mid-July 2024
Finish: Late July 2024
Time and day: Sunday to Thursday, between 7pm to 5am

Dates are weather and site conditions permitting. In the event of bad weather, works will be rescheduled to the next available night.

Signage will be installed nearby in the lead-up to the works starting.

What does this mean for me?

If you live in or travelling through the area, you may experience:

• noise, dust  and vibration from construction machinery and vehicles with reversing alarms and flashing lights
• strong odour during potholing and asphalt laying process
• changed traffic conditions, including minor traffic delays, no standing for traffic in the work zone, reduced speed limits, lane closures and detours
• controlled access to driveways, with up to 15 minute wait periods
• increased lighting within the work area for up to an hour either side of start / finish.

Traffic controllers will be on site to assist you moving through the work area. For workplace health and safety requirements, reversing beepers must be switched on.

The road resurfacing program will help make suburban streets smoother and safer.

BCC thank you for your patience and cooperation while undertaking these works.

Please note, BCC will also complete line marking, service raising, and traffic signal loop works within six weeks after the resurfacing works.
