Beams Road Rail Level Crossing Project – Carseldine & Fitzgibbon
Beams Road (Carseldine and Fitzgibbon) Rail Level Crossing Project Start of Construction – March 2024
The Department of Transport and Main Roads would like to advise construction of the Beams Road (Carseldine and Fitzgibbon), rail level crossing project will begin in March 2024. The Beams Road rail level crossing project will reduce congestion and address safety concerns. The current rail level crossing on Beams Road will be replaced with an overpass to separate road and rail.
Work activities
Activities commencing shortly will include:
-
Implementation of traffic control devices including signage, barriers, line marking, and reduced speed limits.
-
Site establishment including fencing, installation of construction access gates and site offices.
-
Vegetation clearing.
-
Underground services identification and relocation.
-
Earthworks and drainage.
-
Temporary asphalting and line-marking.
-
Median removal.
-
Adjustment to the location of the existing level crossing boom gate by Queensland Rail.
Timing
-
Works are scheduled to commence early March 2024.
-
Work will be carried out from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, with occasional night works activities between 7pm and 5am from Sunday to Thursday.
-
Night works are required for road user safety, and to avoid what would otherwise be extensive traffic queuing and disruption to the road network. Wet weather, construction and site conditions may change this work schedule.
Expected impacts
-
Noise, dust and vibration from machinery and construction activities. Controls will be in place to minimise impacts.
-
Delays. Please allow extra time when planning your journey. For safety, traffic control including lane and shoulder closures, reduced speed limits and signage to warn road users of changed conditions will be in place.
-
Increased truck movements. Small and large plant and equipment, including excavators, trucks, vacuum excavators, cranes, and piling rigs will have flashing lights and reversing beepers for safety.
-
Vegetation will be cleared sensitively with approvals, pre-clearing surveys, and fauna spotter-catchers on site.
- Access to private properties will be maintained, where possible. Where private property access is impacted, property owners will be notified directly prior to the works.
Every effort will be made to minimise impacts on the local community and surrounds.
TMR appreciates your patience and cooperation while these important works are carried out.
