Maintenance Works – Sandgate Road, Nundah

Maintenance Works
Sandgate Road, Nundah

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) would like to advise that road pavement works will take place southbound on Sandgate Road between Henchman Street and Boyd Street, Nundah.

These works are being undertaken as part of TMR’s routine maintenance program to improve the road surface and enhance road safety for all road users.

Detour information:

  • While works are underway, temporary closure of the following intersections will be required for one night each between 8pm and 5am:
    • Sandgate Road State Route 26 and Bridge Street, Nundah.
    • Sandgate Road State Route 26 and Sandgate Road, Nundah.
  • Detours will be in place as follows:
    • Access to Bridge Street from Sandgate Road State Route 26:
      • Southbound traffic on Sandgate Road State Route 26 will be detoured via Eton Street and Nundah Street.
      • Westbound traffic on Bridge Street will be detoured via Nundah Street and Henchman Street.
    • Access to State Route 26 from Sandgate Road:
      • Northbound traffic on Sandgate Road (non tunnel users) will be detoured via Wood Street, Eton Street, Nundah Street, Henchman Street, Ryans Road, Robinson Road, London Street and Cameron Street.

Work activities

  • Removal and replacement of asphalt.
  • Reinstatement of line marking.

  • Works will take place early November 2023 and are expected to take two nights to complete, construction and weather conditions permitting.
  • Typical construction hours will be from 8pm to 5am, Sunday to Friday. Night works are required for road user safety, and to avoid what would otherwise be extensive traffic queuing and disruption to the road network.
  • While most of the works will be undertaken at night, some Saturday or other out of hours works during the day may be required

Expected impacts

  • Changed traffic conditions: Temporary traffic detours, lane and road closures, temporary speed limit reductions and short-term traffic disruptions. Please allow extra time when planning your travel and follow the directions of roadside signage and traffic controllers.
  • Temporary construction noise: Heavy machinery will be in use, nearby residents and businesses can expect increased noise, dust and odour. Reversing beepers and flashing lights will be used for safety.
  • Access to private properties: Access to private properties will be maintained during the works. Where temporary access changes are required, property/business owners will be contacted directly.

On completion, TMR officers will continue to review the site for up to three months. During this time TMR will assess the work undertaken for longevity and quality.

Every effort will be made to minimise impacts on the local community and surrounds.

TMR appreciates your patience and cooperation while these important works are carried out.

The event is finished.
