Ipswich Motorway Upgrade – Rocklea to Darra

Ipswich Motorway, Oxley to Darra – Upcoming investigation works

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will be undertaking survey works and underground services investigations along Ipswich Motorway and surrounding local roads between Factory Loop Road, Oxley and Douglas Street, Darra.

Works will be undertaken from late February and be completed mid-April 2024, weather permitting.

These works are required to locate underground services and to complete geotechnical and pavement investigations as part of the planning for the remaining sections of the Ipswich Motorway between Rocklea and Darra.

Work activities

  • Traffic control to manage public and worker safety as required.

  • Ground excavation using heavy machinery and vacuum trucks.

  • Survey of underground utilities; and

  • Reinstatement of ground surface.

  • Day works will commence late February 2024 and be completed late March 2024. Typical day work hours will be from 6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

  • Night works will commence mid-March 2024 and be completed mid-April 2024. Typical night work hours will be from 6pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday nights.

  • Night works are required for road user and worker safety, and to avoid what would otherwise be extensive traffic queuing and disruption to the road network.

  • While most of the works will be undertaken during these times, some Saturday or other out of hours works may be required.

  • All works will be complete mid-April, weather permitting.

Expected impacts

  • Traffic changes may be in effect, including localised traffic detours, road shoulder closures, temporary ramp and lane closures with traffic control, changes to traffic flow, temporary speed reductions and short-term traffic disruptions.

  • Nearby residents and businesses may experience short term impacts including increased noise, dust, and odour during the works.

  • Property owners will be individually notified should access to your property be restricted during the works.

  • Traffic control will be present to assist motorists/pedestrians if required.

  • Temporary diversions to shared paths and pedestrian footpaths may be in place during works. Please follow traffic control in place.

  • Reversing beepers and flashing lights are a safety requirement and will be used at all times during working hours.

Every effort will be made to minimise impacts on the local community and surrounds.

TMR appreciates your patience and cooperation while these important works are carried out.

The event is finished.
