An issue arose this week where a baptised Sikh, carrying a Kirpan (one of the Sikh articles of faith), entered a school ground to pick up a passenger.
When the question was put to the Queensland Police Service (“QPS”) Cultural Support Unit as to whether this breached the Weapons Act 1990 (Qld), the response was that there was no recorded incident of a similar nature having occurred before.
The attached brochure was provided to the enquirer and TCQ was provided with a copy as well.
I thought that this information would be of interest to all, hence why I am sending it out.
A copy of this message to members, including the brochure, will be available on the website.
